A youth league is a league whose players are under 18. The children do not hold accounts; their parents do. League2GO writes to the parents, the parents answer for their child, and a youth league never spends a game credit.
Choosing the youth audience
Audience is one of the fields you fill in when you create your league, next to the sport and the league type. Set it to Youth and the league changes shape:
- Players are entered without an email address or a cell number of their own.
- Each player carries a list of parents, and it is the parents who get accounts.
- Scheduling a game costs no game credit.
You choose the audience when the league is created. The league type (fixed teams or pick-up) and the sport are separate choices; see league types.
Adding a child and their parents
Open the Teams tab and click Add player below the team’s roster, the same way as in any league (see adding players). In a youth league the form asks for the child’s name, position and jersey number, and then for their parents.
Add a parent with their first name, last name, and an email address or a cell number. Add as many parents as the family needs: a child can carry two parents, or more. You can also leave a note on a parent, which shows next to their name on the roster.
Each parent is invited to register with the exact email address or cell number you entered, exactly as a player would be in an adult league. The child is never invited and never registers: they have no account.
On the roster, the contact column shows each parent’s name, email address and phone number, and marks any parent who has not finished registering yet.
What parents receive
In a youth league, the messages that would go to the player go to every parent of that child instead. Each parent gets their own copy, through their own notification settings.
Parents are notified when:
- a game is added to the calendar;
- a game reminder goes out before the game;
- the lineup for a game is published;
- a substitute is requested for their child’s spot, and what it costs;
- a league manager sends a message to the team or to the league.
For these, each parent chooses email, push notifications, or both, in their own profile. See notifications and reminders and mobile notifications.
What parents can do
A parent signs in with their own account. Their schedule lists every game of every one of their children, and each game carries the name of the child it belongs to. A parent with two children in the club sees both children’s games in one list.
From a game, a parent can:
- confirm their child will play, or declare an absence;
- accept or refuse an open spot offered to their child;
- pay the league online for their child, when the league collects payments (see paying online).
There is no separate parent site: parents use the same schedule, game and profile screens as everyone else, with their child’s name shown on the games that belong to them.
What a youth league costs
Nothing. An adult league buys game credits and spends one for each scheduled game; a youth league spends none, no matter how many games the season holds. Nobody in the league pays League2GO: not the children, not the parents, not the coaches, not the managers. See pricing and game credits for how credits work in adult leagues.
